8 DAY TOUR FROM TANGIER-CHEFCHAUEN-FES-DESERT-MARRAKECH

Day 1: TANGIER-CHEFCHAOUEN

We will pick you up from the port then start our journey across the spectacular Rif mountains Toward  Tetouan and along incredibly dramatic landscapes, and then arrive into Chefchaouan, a beautifully sited beneath the raw peaks of the Rif, Chefchaouen is one of the prettiest towns in Morocco, an artsy blue-washed mountain village that feels like its own world. The old medina is a delight of Moroccan and Andalucian influence with red-tiled roofs, bright-blue buildings and narrow lanes converging on busy Plaza Uta el-Hammam and its restored kasbah. Here you will spend a night in a nice accommodation with a panoramic view that allows you to enjoy the breeze and the beauty of the nature.

 

DAY 2: CHEFCHAOUEN- VOLUBILIS- MEKNES - FES

After your breakfast in the riad our authentic journey will start towards volubilis crossing via WAZAN and other rif villages, in volubilis we will discover the roman ruins and learn about the archeological site of Moroccan history, after the visit of the ruins we will shift our way to Meknes city the 17 th centry heritage where we will stop for lunch and hang around the historical huge walls of the medina, bab el mansour and enjoy a visit of moulay ismail’s shrine. After the visit of Meknes we will drive directly to Fes city where you will spend the night.

 

DAY 3: FES

After breakfast in your riad, you will start exploring the oldest city in Morocco, walking in its alleys and small streets. Our visit starts by visiting the Royal Palace gate, the Jewish headquarter, the first Mellah ever built in Morocco, built during the 16th century . We will ensure that you visit all sites with cultural and historical interest including the famous Al Qaraouine University , the oldest in the region, the Tanneries, the Attarine museum and Mulay Idriss mausoleum. After lunch, you will visit the tiles cooperative and then experience a wonderful panoramique view over the whole Medina of Fes.

 

DAY 4: FEZ – IFRANE – AZROU – MIDELT – ERRACHIDIA – ZIZ VALLEY – ERFOUD – MERZOUGA

After breakfast, departure to Midelt passing through the mountains and cedar forests of the Middle Atlas. I pass through Ifrane, a charming ski resort and Azrou, an important craft center specializing in cedar wood work. After the Zad Pass (2178m/7146ft), we will arrive in Midelt for lunch. In the afternoon, we will descend towards Erfoud and Errachidia through the Ziz Valley, dotted with palm trees. Continuation towards the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. In the afternoon the dromedaries await us and we will enter the desert, while the sun sets, until we reach the tent camp in the middle of the high dune desert, where we will spend the night in a tent. Dinner and night in a tent under the desert stars.

 

DAY 5: MERZOUGA – RISSANI – TODRA GORGES – DADES GORGES

If you wake up before dawn you can climb to the top of a dune to contemplate the impressive sunrise and enjoy the sky again, after having spent a night under the stars of the Sahara. Return by camel to the hotel to rest and take a comforting shower and have breakfast. Afterwards, we continue our trip with a visit to Khamlia, a town originally from Mali, where you can relax with tea while enjoying a small Gnawa music concert. We head towards Rissani, where you can visit its interesting African souk, the largest in the area, where inhabitants of the surrounding towns and nomads come to sell their products and livestock and buy the belongings they need. We continue on our path again, where dunes and palm trees appear from time to time, small oases where life takes shape. In just over 2 hours you reach Tinerhir, the most lush oasis in the south, from where you can access the Todra Gorges. We continue the route towards the also spectacular Dades gorges, with their peculiar mountain formations. Night in Dades.

 

DAY 6: DADES GORGES – VALLEY OF ROSES – SKOURA – OUARZAZATE – AÏT BEN HADDOU – MARRAKECH

We will continue along the route of the Kasbahs and cross the Valley of Roses to reach Skoura, where you can walk through its labyrinthine palm grove where multiple Kasbahs are hidden and visit the Kasbah of Ameridil. In Ouarzazate you can contemplate or visit the Kasbah of Taourirt and, if you like cinema, visit the film studios where many famous films have been filmed. Next we can detour towards Aït Benhaddou, one of the largest kasbahs in the entire south, which maintains some parts well preserved thanks to the fact that it has also become the setting for many films, such as “Gladiator”. You can walk through its streets and climb to the top where you can contemplate the beautiful views of the valley. We continue towards Marrakech crossing the High Atlas mountains. The road should be traveled slowly, due to its beauty and because it is a mountain pass that crosses the Atlas at almost 2,300m.  Finally, arrival in Marrakech, where you can enjoy the magic that Jemma el Fna Square offers. Night in Marrakech.

 

DAY 7: MARRAKECH – MARRAKECH

Breakfast and free day to visit the most important places in Marrakech, a city famous for its Jemaa el Fna square, which will occupy much of your time: an unrepeatable amalgam of aromas, sounds and sensations. The city also has endless places to wander and enjoy: the Majorelle Gardens, the Menara, the Saadian Tombs, walks through the medina or the mellah (the old Jewish quarter), the tour of the walls and the modern city (Gueliz) with its western ways of life. Accommodation in a riad in the medina near Jemma El Fna Square, so you can easily get around the city on foot.
